ABSTRACT
The rapid development and introduction of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) in every field of modern life makes it necessary to incorporate them to education as well.
This research study attempts to investigate the reasons that teachers consider important and necessary for the efficiency of their work using the new technologies in the primary and secondary education of the prefecture of Arta. It is also investigating the factors that prevent teachers from using ICT and attempts to understand whether the financial crisis, school curriculum or inadequate teacher education prevents them from teaching ICT. Finally, it is explored the reason, why the introduction of ICT becomes necessary in today's education system.
The results of the study are presented. In this research, primary and secondary education teachers in the Prefecture of Arta, who have been trained in the use of ICT in education, are participated. The results showed that teachers perceive that the school can not remain in the field of development and indifferent to the challenges of the times and they make an effort to cope with both the aspirations of the students and the demands created by themselves for themselves. However, they recognize the obstacles created by the economic crisis, with the consequent failure to equip schools with technological means and the inability of the state to organize training sessions to meet their demands. In addition, there is a contradiction in the use of the internet, recognizing the intimacy that students feel with the internet and the hesitancy of themselves as to their excessive use which results in the lack of attention of the students.

| Abstract: | Περίληψη
Η ραγδαία ανάπτυξη και εισαγωγή των Τεχνολογιών Πληροφορίας και Επικοινωνίας (ΤΠΕ) σε κάθε τομέα της σύγχρονης ζωής, καθιστά αναγκαία και την εισαγωγή τους στην εκπαίδευση.
Με αυτή την εργασία, επιχειρείται η διερεύνηση των λόγων που οι εκπαιδευτικοί θεωρούν σημαντική και αναγκαία για την αποτελεσματικότητα στην δουλειά τους την χρήση των νέων τεχνολογιών, στην πρωτοβάθμια και δευτεροβάθμια εκπαίδευση του νομού Άρτας. Επίσης, αναζητούνται οι παράγοντες εκείνοι που αποτρέπουν τους εκπαιδευτικούς από την χρήση των ΤΠΕ και επιχειρείται να γίνει κατανοητό αν η οικονομική κρίση, το αναλυτικό πρόγραμμα ή και η ελλιπής επιμόρφωση των εκπαιδευτικών τους αποτρέπει από την διδασκαλία με ΤΠΕ. Τέλος, εξετάζεται γιατί η εισαγωγή των ΤΠΕ καθίσταται αναγκαία στο σημερινό σχολείο.
Παρουσιάζονται τα αποτελέσματα έρευνας, στην οποία συμμετείχαν εκπαιδευτικοί της πρωτοβάθμιας και δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης του νομού Άρτας, οι οποίοι είχαν επιμορφωθεί στην αξιοποίηση των ΤΠΕ στην εκπαίδευση. Τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας έδειξαν, πως οι εκπαιδευτικοί αντιλαμβάνονται ότι το σχολείο, δεν μπορεί να μείνει αμέτοχο στις εξελίξεις και να αδιαφορήσει για τις προκλήσεις των καιρών και οι ίδιοι καταβάλλουν προσπάθεια να ανταπεξέλθουν τόσο στις προσδοκίες των μαθητών, όσο και στις απαιτήσεις που έχουν δημιουργήσει οι ίδιοι για τους εαυτούς τους. Ωστόσο, αναγνωρίζουν τα εμπόδια που δημιουργεί η οικονομική κρίση, με την επακόλουθη αδυναμία εξοπλισμού των σχολείων με τεχνολογικά μέσα και την αδυναμία του κράτους να διοργανώσει επιμορφωτικά σεμινάρια, που να ανταποκρίνονται στις απαιτήσεις τους. Επιπλέον, παρατηρείται μια αντίφαση ως προς τη χρήση του διαδικτύου, αναγνωρίζοντας μεν, την οικειότητα που νιώθουν οι μαθητές με το διαδίκτυο αλλά και τη διστακτικότητα των ίδιων ως προς την υπερβολική του χρήση που έχει σαν αποτέλεσμα την έλλειψη προσοχής των μαθητών.
