Σιδηροπούλου, Αριστέα
The human papilloma virus, also known as HPV (Human Papilloma Virus), comes from a family of highly contagious viruses and is one of the most commonly sexually transmitted viruses in the world. Persistent HPV infection causes lesions in the cells of the infected site, which are proportional to the strain of the virus that infected the organism. This diploma thesis was written to highlight the importance of HPV infection, especially to young women, and the severity of the complications it brings. Also, the aim of the work is to urge midwives to take part in promoting vaccination and secondary prevention. Finally, it aims at getting to know the new guidelines for population screening, proper referral of individuals according to each case, as well as presenting appropriate counseling methods.
