Μαιευτική φροντίδα στο δεύτερο στάδιο τοκετού (Bachelor thesis)

Childbirth is the procedure in which the fetus is separated from the mother’s body and comprises the
last stage of pregnancy. The natural childbirth takes place in three stages the most critical of which is
the second stage, because the good or bad output of this stage will determine both the mother’s and
the baby’s health since there are possibilities for the appearance of problems and complications that
have to be handled immediately and effectively.
The purpose of this assignment is to describe the natural birth procedures focusing on the second
stage. Furthermore, it is our aim to pinpoint the procedures concerning the midwife’s responsibilities
during the second stage, her obligations and generally her contribution and the importance of her
role, at a moment when a “new” human being faces for the first time the sunlight, life itself.
This assignment is the result of a research made within the frame of our academic obligations. It
consists of three chapters. The first chapter briefly describes the Woman’s Reproduction System
while the second presents the three stages of the natural birth, the membranes rupture, the maternal
contractions and the cervical dilatation. The third chapter focuses on the description of the second
birth stage which is the object of this assignment.
The description of the second birth stage includes the procedure of the smooth development as well
as the potential malfunctions such as the malfunctions of the pelvic floor, urinary incontinence, fecal
incontinence, the vaginal prolapse, abnormal fetus projection, fast delivery and early childbirth.
Furthermore, it presents information about the midwifery care during the second birth stage,
including pain management, breathing, pharmaceutical techniques and a variety of birth positions.
During the composition of this assignment, we had to search a number of scientific magazines and
bibliography as well as the internet. This process gave us the opportunity to understand better and
more thoroughly the midwifery theory and practices which we were taught during our studies in the
Midwifery Department.
Hopefully, our work fulfills its purpose describing the birth procedures objectively and accurately
and demonstrating the essential role of the midwife during child birth

| Abstract: | Τοκετός είναι η διαδικασία κατά την οποία το έμβρυο απομακρύνεται από το σώμα της μητέρας και
αποτελεί το τελευταίο στάδιο της εγκυμοσύνης. Ο φυσιολογικός τοκετός εξελίσσεται σε τρία στάδια,
το κρισιμότερο από τα οποία είναι το δεύτερο για τον λόγο ότι η καλή ή κακή έκβαση του σταδίου
αυτού είναι καθοριστική για την υγεία αφενός της μητέρας αφετέρου του εμβρύου, εφόσον υπάρχει
πιθανότητα να παρουσιασθούν προβλήματα και επιπλοκές που πρέπει να αντιμετωπιστούν άμεσα
και αποτελεσματικά.
Ο σκοπός της εργασίας αυτής είναι η περιγραφή της διαδικασίας του φυσιολογικού τοκετού με
κύρια εστίαση στο δεύτερο στάδιο. Επίσης, στόχος μας είναι να επισημάνουμε τις διαδικασίες που
αφορούν στα καθήκοντα της μαίας κατά το δεύτερο στάδιο, τις υποχρεώσεις της και γενικά την
συμβολή της και την σοβαρότητα του ρόλου της σε μία στιγμή τόσο σημαντική κατά την οποία ένας
«καινούργιος άνθρωπος» αντικρίζει για πρώτη φορά το φώς της ημέρας, την ίδια την ζωή.
Η παρούσα εργασία είναι το αποτέλεσμα μίας έρευνας την οποία κάναμε στα πλαίσια των
ακαδημαϊκών μας υποχρεώσεων. Περιλαμβάνει τρία κεφάλαια. Στο πρώτο περιγράφεται συνοπτικά
το Γυναικείο Γεννητικό Σύστημα, το δεύτερο αναφέρεται συνοπτικά στα τρία στάδια του
φυσιολογικού τοκετού, την Ρήξη των Υμένων, τις Μητρικές Συσπάσεις και την Διαστολή του
Τραχήλου. Το τρίτο κεφάλαιο εστιάζει στην περιγραφή του 2ου σταδίου που αποτελεί και το
αντικείμενο της εργασίας.
Η περιγραφή του 2ου σταδίου του φυσιολογικού τοκετού περιλαμβάνει την διαδικασία της ομαλής
εξέλιξης του, καθώς και τις ενδεχόμενες δυσλειτουργίες όπως του Πυελικού Εδάφους, την ουρική
ακράτεια και ακράτεια κοπράνων, την πρόπτωση του κόλπου, ανώμαλες προβολές εμβρύου, τον οξύ
καθώς και τον πρόωρο τοκετό. Επίσης, αναφέρεται στην Μαιευτική φροντίδα του 2ου σταδίου
περιλαμβάνοντας τη διαχείριση του πόνου, τις αναπνοές, φαρμακευτικές τεχνικές και τις διάφορες
θέσεις τοκετού.
Κατά την εκπόνηση της εργασίας αυτής, ανατρέξαμε σε αρκετά επιστημονικά περιοδικά και
βιβλιογραφία καθώς και στο διαδίκτυο. Αυτή η έρευνα μας έδωσε την ευκαιρία να κατανοήσουμε
καλύτερα και βαθύτερα την μαιευτική θεωρία και τις πρακτικές που διδαχθήκαμε κατά την διάρκεια
των σπουδών μας στο Τμήμα Μαιευτικής.
Ελπίζουμε η εργασία αυτή να πληροί τον σκοπό της περιγράφοντας αντικειμενικά και σωστά την
διαδικασία του τοκετού και αναδεικνύοντας τον σημαντικό ρόλο της μαίας στην διαδικασία του
