Βιώσιμη τουριστική ανάπτυξη στην πόλη του Πειραιά (Bachelor thesis)

Growth sustainability has emerged as an important issue in the global economy, as the
concept of growth is not meant to be one-dimensional, such as GDP growth, but
includes many axes, such as the natural environment and society. In this context,
tourism is geared towards achieving characteristics of sustainability, by respecting the
ecosystem, spreading the economic benefits to local communities and highlighting the
cultural, social and other special characteristics of each region.
Based on the above, the present study examines the emergence of the city of Piraeus
as a viable tourist destination. Piraeus has unique features that can enable the
achievement of sustainable tourism development, both in economic, environmental
and social terms. However, to achieve this goal it is necessary for the city to develop a
strategic plan that takes into account all the parameters of the external and internal
environment.
The study outlines the axes that will allow the development of sustainable tourism in
the city of Piraeus, as expressed by the views of the tourists themselves. Specifically,
a primary quantitative survey is being carried out to determine whether Piraeus is
attractive as a destination for sustainable tourism development, to illustrate whether
tourists engage in activities that enhance and support sustainable tourism development
and which axes should be given emphasis by competent Authorities and bodies to
enhance Piraeus' profile as a destination for sustainable tourism development.
The main conclusion of the work is that Piraeus can become a viable tourist
destination as long as there is a strategic plan, aiming at providing information on the
characteristics of the city and the variety of activities it offers and also improving in
areas such as access, environmental protection and cleanliness

| Abstract: | Η βιωσιμότητα της ανάπτυξης έχει αναδειχθεί ως σημαντικό ζήτημα της παγκόσμιας
οικονομίας, καθώς πλέον η έννοια της ανάπτυξης δεν νοείται μονοδιάστατα, ως η
μεγέθυνση του ΑΕΠ, αλλά περιλαμβάνει πολλούς άξονες, όπως το φυσικό
περιβάλλον και η κοινωνία. Σε αυτά τα πλαίσια, ο τουρισμός προσανατολίζεται στο
να αποκτήσει χαρακτηριστικά βιωσιμότητας, με σεβασμό προς το οικοσύστημα, με
διάχυση του οικονομικού οφέλους προς τις τοπικές κοινωνίες και με ανάδειξη των
πολιτιστικών, κοινωνικών και άλλων ιδιαιτεροτήτων της κάθε περιοχής.
Με βάσει τα παραπάνω, στην παρούσα εργασία εξετάζεται η ανάδειξη της πόλης του
Πειραιά ως βιώσιμου τουριστικού προορισμού. Ο Πειραιάς συγκεντρώνει μοναδικά
χαρακτηριστικά, τα οποία μπορούν να του επιτρέψουν να πετύχει μια βιώσιμη
τουριστική ανάπτυξη, τόσο σε οικονομικό, όσο και σε περιβαλλοντικό και κοινωνικό
επίπεδο. Ωστόσο, για την επίτευξη αυτού του στόχου απαιτείται να αναπτυχθεί ένας
στρατηγικός σχεδιασμός που θα λαμβάνει υπ’ όψιν του όλες τις παραμέτρους του
εξωτερικού και εσωτερικού περιβάλλοντος.
Στην εργασία διατυπώνονται οι άξονες που θα επιτρέψουν την ανάπτυξη βιώσιμου
τουρισμού στην πόλη του Πειραιά, όπως αυτοί εκφράζονται από τις απόψεις των
ιδίων των τουριστών. Συγκεκριμένα, στην εργασία πραγματοποιείται πρωτογενής
ποσοτική έρευνα προκειμένου να διαπιστωθεί κατά πόσο ελκυστικός είναι ο Πειραιάς
ως προορισμός βιώσιμης τουριστικής ανάπτυξης, να αποτυπωθεί το κατά πόσο οι
τουρίστες προβαίνουν σε δραστηριότητες οι οποίες ενισχύουν και στηρίζουν τη
βιώσιμη τουριστική ανάπτυξη και σε ποιους άξονες θα πρέπει να δοθεί έμφαση από
τις αρμόδιες Αρχές και φορείς προκειμένου να ενισχυθεί το προφίλ του Πειραιά ως
προορισμού βιώσιμης τουριστικής ανάπτυξης.
Κύριο συμπέρασμα της εργασίας είναι ότι ο Πειραιάς μπορεί να αναδειχθεί ως
βιώσιμος τουριστικός προορισμός, αρκεί να υπάρχει ένας στρατηγικός
προγραμματισμός που θα στοχεύει στην παροχή πληροφόρησης για τα
χαρακτηριστικά της πόλης και την ποικιλία των δραστηριοτήτων που προσφέρει, και
επίσης να υπάρχει βελτίωση σε τομείς όπως η πρόσβαση, η προστασία του
