This dissertation presents the management of solid waste in the Municipality of Katerini. Initially, reference is made to what solid waste means, how it is generated, and to which categories it is separated according to its characteristics. The second chapter begins with the reporting of European and national legislation on solid waste and then analyzes the purpose, process and methods. In the third and final chapter is the detailed presentation of the demographic data for the region of Katerini and recorded quantitative and qualitative data as well as the evolution of the process in recent years. The value of this study is to identify the development of a provincial city in the context of a utility service, such as solid waste management, even at a time of criticism, where ecological inequality dominates on a global and national level.
