This paper examines a particular issue concerning the field of tourism. This issue is the city of Thessaloniki as a tourist destination and as a youth capital for the year 2014. The issue was assigned by the Prof.. Kourtesa Georgio and aims to host information, both generally in the tourism industry, and more specifically from the city of Thessaloniki, referring of course tourism. The issue is timely because it relates to the society and the economy and seeks to obtain information that is not so well known.
With a background in tourism, some general information are given in order to understand the way it works, its evolution and the image that has nowadays. Then, attention is given in the city of Thessaloniki, which gets a more comprehensive and methodical study. Thessaloniki was chosen as a case study because it is a big, important and very interesting city that gives the opportunity to study tourism with examples and evidence.
From the beginning of the work until the end, there is a certain flow, analysis and presentation of all the information, in order to answer all the questions and carry out useful conclusions.

| Abstract: | Η παρούσα εργασία εξετάζει ένα ιδιαίτερο θέμα που αφορά το χώρο του τουρισμού. Πρόκειται για την πόλη της Θεσσαλονίκης ως τουριστικός προορισμός και ως πρωτεύουσα νεολαίας για το έτος 2014. Το θέμα ανατέθηκε από τον καθηγητή κ. Κουρτέσα Γεώργιο και στοχεύει να παραθέσει πληροφορίες, τόσο γενικά από το χώρο του τουρισμού, όσο και πιο ειδικά από την πόλη της Θεσσαλονίκης, αναφορικά φυσικά με τον τουρισμό. Το θέμα είναι επίκαιρο γιατί αφορά στην κοινωνία και την οικονομία και επιδιώκεται να αντληθούν πληροφορίες που δεν είναι τόσο γνωστές.
Με φόντο τον τουρισμό, δίνονται στην αρχή γενικές πληροφορίες για αυτόν προκειμένου να γίνει κατανοητός ο τρόπος που λειτουργεί, η εξέλιξή του αλλά και η εικόνα που παρουσιάζει σήμερα. Έπειτα, η προσοχή εστιάζεται στην πόλη της Θεσσαλονίκης, όπου γίνεται μια πιο ευρεία και μεθοδική μελέτη. Η Θεσσαλονίκη, επιλέχθηκε ως μελέτη περίπτωσης διότι είναι μια μεγάλη, σημαντική και πολύ ενδιαφέρουσα πόλη που δίνει την ευκαιρία να μελετηθεί ο τουρισμός με παραδείγματα και αποδείξεις.
Από την αρχή της εργασίας μέχρι το τέλος, υπάρχει μια συγκεκριμένη ροή, ανάλυση και παρουσίαση όλων των πληροφοριών, ώστε να απαντηθούν όλα τα ερωτήματα και να διεξαχθούν χρήσιμα συμπεράσματα.
