Congenital dislocation of the hip (CAM), is a frequent disease, multifactorial etiology, caused by
the abnormal growth of one or more components of the joint. It can make its appearance in the
endometrium or perinatal life period of the fetus, as well as after birth, and depending on type, can
range from a simple looseness of the hip, to a serious deformation of the hinge, wherein the head
femur has almost no contact with the acetabulum and is dislocation. The diagnosis is based on
clinical icon, clinical examination and imaging tests, and once it has been early and treated with
appropriate measures, the success rate is very high. In cases, however, neglect or inadequate
treatment, inevitably, in adult life, the progressive wear of the cartilage of the hinges and flashing
the development of secondary osteoarthritis where intervention is now only surgery with total hip.
Amid all this situation, an essential contribution of physiotherapeutic intervention, both for the
treatment of pain and other symptoms of OA and for surgery delay, and for faster recovery after that
and restore the daily activities and a quality lifestyle.
