Beauty is subjective, as every era, human, or culture has it’s own criteria. The theme of this thesis begins with a various kinds of make up per century, as it explains beauty in different cultures. Psimithiosis, as it is called in Greek, has subcategories for different purposes of use. Subsequently, the subject of this thesis is to show beauty with the use of make up from the 20’s till the 60’s, and to talk about people that stigmatized it. In conclusion, we refer to the importance of make up in our days, it’s similarities with the past and the different trends these days.

| Abstract: | Η ομορφιά είναι υποκειμενική, καθώς κάθε εποχή, κάθε άνθρωπος και κάθε πολιτισμός έχει τα δικά του κριτήρια. Το θέμα της πτυχιακής αυτής ξεκινά με α διάφορα είδη μακιγιάζ ανά τους αιώνες, καθώς εξηγείται η ομορφιά σε διαφορετικούς πολιτισμούς. Η ψιμυθίωση, όπως και ονομάζεται στα ελληνικά, έχει υποκατηγορίες για τις διαφορετικές περιπτώσεις χρήσης της. Στη συνέχεια, στόχος της εργασίας αυτής είναι να αναδείξουμε την ομορφιά μέσω του μακιγιάζ από τις δεκαετίες ’20 έως ’60 και να μιλήσουμε για τα άτομα που τη στιγμάτισαν. Τέλος, αναφερόμαστε στη σημασία του μακιγιάζ στις μέρες μας, τις ομοιότητες του με το παρελθόν αλλά και τις τάσεις της μόδας σήμερα.
