Moschopoulos, V, 2016. The nutritional interaction on reproduction of sheep. Assignment conducted in the context of the graduation dissertation. Division of Animal Science, Department of of Agricultural technology, School of Agricultural Technology, Food Technology and Nutrition, Alexander Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki. Thessaloniki, Greece, pp. 1–41. The aim of this study was the investigation of interaction which an energy supplement could have on the improvement of sheep fertilization through the improvement of digestibility and body condition. For this purpose 100 ewes of Chios breed were used. The animals were divided in three groups (Α, Β and C). Animals of group Α (50 ewes) were used as control. In animals of group B (25 ewes) an amount of 0,750 gr of energy supplement was mixed well with 1 kg/ewe of the concentrate (30 gr / ewe 25x0,30 gr=0,750 gr). In animals of group C (25 ewes) an amount of 1 kg of energy supplement was mixed well with 1 kg/ewe of the concentrate (40 gr / ewe, 25x0, 40 gr =1 kg). in all groups the treatment started 2 weeks before the mating and was carried out for another 3 weeks after. Early pregnancy diagnosis was conducted at the 40th and 60th day after the induction of rams using an ultrasonography. On the 40th day we found that in group A 39 from the 50 ewes were pregnant (78%). In group B 21 out of the 25 ewes were pregnant (84%), while in group C 19 out of 25 ewes were pregnant (76%). On day 60th we noticed that in group A 46 out of 50 ewes were pregnant but only 34 of them were conceived from the first period of mating (68%), while 4 ewes were not pregnant. In animals of group B we found that 18 out of 25 ewes were conceived from the first period of mating (72%), while 6 ewes were conceived from the second period of mating and 1 ewe was not pregnant. Sixteen out of 25 ewes of group C were found pregnant (64%), while 8 conceived from the second mating period and 1 ewes was found not to be pregnant. In conclusion, animals of group B had higher conception rate and the dose of 30 gr / ewe improved the fertility compared to the animals of group A and C.
