The Greek Sugar Industry SA founded in 1960 and is the only sugar producer and by-products in Greece. It has manufacturing plants in Northern Greece and has developed its own organizational structure. Sugar and by-products of HSI produced from beet which follows a specific manufacturing process. Is sowing - planting, irrigation - fertilizing, harvesting and then exported mainly sugar and molasses, the fresh pulp and zacharopita. It uses a type of continuous flow production.The export of sugar beet made in the factories of HSI where the beet are delivered there, are weighed, washed and then processed to create sugar and its by-products. The sale but also the context of procurement autonomously determined by the company that has established itself its own internal rules of sale and supply, oriented in general relevant framework legislation. In the sequel are European background of sugar interviews competent persons and conclusions - recommendations.
