Νόσος του Scheuermann και φυσικοθεραπευτική προσέγγιση (Bachelor thesis)

This thesis, which deals with Scheuermann's disease and its physiotherapeutic
approach, includes anatomical and kinetic elements of the vertebral column, defines,
classifies and justifies its subject and suggests some therapeutic interventions from the
physiotherapeutic side. Scheuermann's disease is the most common cause of structural
hypercalcification of the thoracic and thoracic spine that develops before puberty and
becomes more important during the eruption. The etiology of Scheuermann's disease
is still under discussion and several theories have been proposed. This degenerative
condition causes a change in shape in the anterior part of the vertebral body (wedge
shaped) resulting in vertebral deformation. X-ray is the main way of diagnosing the

disease. The treatment of Scheuermann's disease is distinguished in conservative
therapy and surgery. Conservative treatment involves the use of orthopedic caregivers
and physiotherapeutic rehabilitation while surgical treatment is the ultimate solution,
it is rare and is chosen in case of failure of the conservative treatment.

| Abstract: | Η παρούσα πτυχιακή εργασία, που ως θέμα έχει τη νόσο του Scheuermann και τη
φυσικοθεραπευτική προσέγγισή της, περιλαμβάνει ανατομικά και κινησιολογικά
στοιχεία της σπονδυλικής στήλης, ορίζει, ταξινομεί και αιτιολογεί το αντικείμενό της
και προτείνει κάποιες θεραπευτικές παρεμβάσεις από φυσικοθεραπευτικής πλευράς.
Η νόσος του Scheuermann αποτελεί την πιο κοινή αιτία δομικής υπερκύφωσης της
θωρακικής και θωρακοσφυϊκής μοίρας της σπονδυλικής στήλης, που αναπτύσσεται
πριν την εφηβεία και γίνεται πιο σημαντική κατά την έκρηξη αυτής. Η αιτιολογία της
νόσου του Scheuermann είναι ακόμη υπό συζήτηση και έχουν προταθεί αρκετές
θεωρίες. Αυτή η εκφυλιστική κατάσταση προκαλεί μεταβολή του σχήματος στο
πρόσθιο τμήμα του σπονδυλικού σώματος (σφηνοειδές σχήμα) με αποτέλεσμα τη
σπονδυλική παραμόρφωση. Η ακτινογραφία αποτελεί τον κύριο τρόπο διάγνωσης της
νόσου. Η θεραπεία της νόσου του Scheuermann διακρίνεται σε συντηρητική θεραπεία
και χειρουργική. Η συντηρητική θεραπεία περιλαμβάνει χρήση ορθοπεδικών
κηδεμόνων και φυσιοθεραπευτική αποκατάσταση ενώ η χειρουργική θεραπεία
αποτελεί την έσχατη λύση, είναι σπάνια και επιλέγεται σε περίπτωση αποτυχίας της
συντηρητικής θεραπείας.
