Internet cultural guide to Veria (Bachelor thesis)

Veria is a city in Macedonia, in northern Greece. The name and position have not been changed through centuries; this is why it is considered one of the oldest cities in Greece.
The history of Veria ought to be displayed because of its age. The most effective way to accomplish that nowadays is creating a website. So, the creation of this project has started bringing the name: «Internet Cultural Guide to Veria».
There are some websites that mention pieces of the history of the city and make reference to some of the monuments and attractions, but there is not something complete. Therefore, the website was created so as to unite all the pieces in order to complete a digital mosaic of information about the city.
Despite the fact that a website is created, it does not guarantee success. Through time and depending on how convenient and understandable is, the audience will show if it worth to exist. One of the most important things for success is the continuous and correct information.
The goal of this project is twofold. First, to inform website users for the Veria region into a cultural and historical level and secondly to inform the reader of this document on the steps that had to be followed for the creation of the website.

| Abstract: | Η Βέροια είναι μια πόλη στη Μακεδονία, στη βόρεια Ελλάδα. Το όνομά της και η θέση της δεν έχουν αλλάξει, όσοι αιώνες και αν πέρασαν, με αποτέλεσμα να θεωρείται μια από τις αρχαιότερες πόλεις της Ελλάδας.
Η ιστορία της Βέροιας όφειλε να προβληθεί και να αναδειχθεί. Ο πιο αποτελεσματικός τρόπος στις μέρες μας είναι ο ιστότοπος. Έτσι, λοιπόν, ξεκίνησε η δημιουργία αυτής της διπλωματικής εργασίας καθώς πρόκειται για την δημιουργία ενός ιστοτόπου με θέμα: «Πολιτιστική Διαδικτυακή Ξενάγηση στη Βέροια».
Υπάρχουν κάποιοι ιστότοποι που αναφέρουν κομμάτια από την ιστορία της πόλης και κάνουν μνεία σε κάποια από τα μνημεία ή τα αξιοθέατα, αλλά δεν υπάρχει κάτι ολοκληρωμένο. Γι αυτό, ο στόχος του ιστοτόπου που δημιουργήθηκε ήταν να ενωθούν όλα τα κομμάτια, έτσι ώστε να ολοκληρωθεί ένα ψηφιακό ψηφιδωτό πληροφοριών σχετικά με την πόλη.
Το γεγονός ότι δημιουργήθηκε ένας ιστότοπος δεν φέρει άμεσα την εγγύηση της επιτυχίας του. Με την πάροδο του χρόνου και με γνώμονα το πόσο εύχρηστος και κατανοητός είναι για το κοινό του γίνεται η αξιολόγησή του. Ακρογωνιαίος λίθος για την επιτυχία του είναι η συνεχής και σωστή ενημέρωσή του.
Ο στόχος της παρούσας διπλωματικής είναι διττός. Αφενός να ενημερώσει τους χρήστες του ιστοτόπου σχετικά με την περιοχή της Βέροιας σε πολιτιστικό και ιστορικό επίπεδο και αφετέρου να ενημερώσει τον αναγνώστη αυτού του εγγράφου για τα βήματα που χρειάστηκε να ακολουθηθούν για την δημιουργία του ιστοτόπου.
