The paper, “Multimedia Tour of Lamia: History, Culture and the Way of Life in the City, is a Bachelor Thesis, which was written as a part of the study program of the school of Library and Information Science, of the Alexandrian Technological Educational Institute of Thessaloniki. The thesis consists of a presentation of the Content Management System (CMS) software Joomla, how it works and how one can design a website by using it. Furthermore, the thesis also contains a presentation of the city of Lamia, through its history, culture and way of the locals’ life. The thesis consists of six primary chapters, a table of contents, an appendix and the bibliography that was used. The first chapter is an introduction that showcases the purpose of the thesis and its goal, as well as its subject and a synopsis of its work procedure. The second chapter explains the source material choices for the content of the website. Moreover, it offers a presentation of the most popular CMS software and how Joomla came to be the chosen software for use. The third chapter is comprised of the description of the designing process, which gives a detailed look into the pre-design phases, the installation of the software on the web-server which would host the website, Joomla’s work environment, and the design procedure, with its varying stages. The exact content of the website is conveyed in the fourth chapter, with the objective of presenting the subject of the thesis, meaning the tour of Lamia. The fifth chapter is comprised of descriptions and selective images, showcasing the finished result. In the sixth chapter, the conclusions, general and specific, of the thesis are given, as are the possibilities for further improvement. The rest of the thesis consists of an appendix, giving definitions, a full site map, as well as, the thesis’ bibliography.
