Syndrome Guillain Barre (GBS) is a degenerative disorder of the Peripheral Nervous System (P.N.S.), which is an autoimmune etiology. The average age lies at 50 years and the incidence of the disease increased with age. The main clinical signs are general weakness, the abolition of mobility and sensation and pain in extremity, so their installation is inevitable and rapid. An important part of the holistic rehabilitation of people with GBS is a physiotherapy treatment. The idea behind this work is to perform a detailed review of existing literature on the means by which physical therapy strengthens and restores lost functional models of patient with GBS.
The evaluation is carried out at the beginning and throughout the duration of treatment. The basics of the neurologic examination include the control of consciousness, mental and psychological status, perception, communication, sensory, reflex, muscle tone, muscle mass, muscle strength, balance, coordination of movement especially gait and functionality. The rehabilitation program is divided into two phases, both temporal approach and level of targets and therapeutic exercises, ranging from aerobic to empowerment. It is an indisputable fact, that the patient’s psychological attitude brings significant influence to the achievement of individual rehabilitation goals.
