In preparation of the present thesis, there has been an attempt to record the requirements and needs of a modern library. More precisely, reference has been made to new libraries and specifically to how they were created and organized. Following that general reference to these new cultural and learning centres, the preparation of a new library which is created by the relocation of a great and historical library, has been achieved. This library is no other than the Koventareios Municipal Library of Kozani. The propose of this dissertation is the general enhancement of new libraries and cultural centres, and certainly the expectations of community members, of the creation of a new library. For this reason that thesis presents a questionnaire which was addressed to Kozani's residents and users of the ''old'' Koventareios library in order to express their thoughts and ambitions about the establishment of a new sophisticated library. The conclusions drown from the user's answers are the following:There seems to be great interest and good will from the users to visit the new library building and specifically the kid's library, the exhibit hall, the lecture hall and the dining area. At the same time, the sentiment about the maintainability of the historical value of KMLK in a new state-of-art place, is optimistic. Additionally, users clearly believe that particular attention must be paid on automation, staff enhancement, accessibility on old material evidence and purchase of books. Finally, the building's distant location from the city center seems to play a catalytic role.
