The subject addressed by this study concerns the pedagogical duties of the Director of
Primary and Secondary Schools and is being evaluated by the teachers who serve them.
The theoretical and empirical approach to the subject is made in order to determine whether
the applicable theoretical legislation and pedagogical science are applied in the school
context. In addition, it is attempted to outline the existing situation in the school units with
regard to specific parameters - aspects resulting from the pedagogical role of the director eg.
forms of pedagogical intervention and animation, education and training, school climate,
evaluation etc.
This endeavor aims to improve the current situation through the feedback and improvement
measures proposed in this research. The survey involved 1,000 teachers, coming from all the
country's schools. The theoretical part of the study refers to legislation related to pedagogical
tasks and attempts the theoretical approach of the most important of them. The empirical part
includes research methodology, research findings, concluding findings and proposals. As
found in the research findings, directors neglected their pedagogical duties, mainly due to
increased administrative obligations. A number of suggestions are listed in the last section of
the paper

| Abstract: | Το θέμα που πραγματεύεται η παρούσα μελέτη αφορά τα παιδαγωγικά καθήκοντα του/της
διευθυντή/ριας των σχολείων της Πρωτοβάθμιας και της Δευτεροβάθμιας Εκπαίδευσης και
επιχειρείται η αξιολόγησή τους από τους εκπαιδευτικούς που υπηρετούν σε αυτά. Η
προσέγγιση του θέματος γίνεται θεωρητικά και εμπειρικά προκειμένου να διαπιστωθεί αν
εφαρμόζονται στο σχολικό πλαίσιο τα οριζόμενα, για τη θεματική της έρευνας, από την
ισχύουσα νομοθεσία και την παιδαγωγική επιστήμη. Επιπλέον, επιχειρείται η σκιαγράφηση
της υπάρχουσας κατάστασης στις σχολικές μονάδες αναφορικά με συγκεκριμένες
παραμέτρους - πτυχές που απορρέουν από τον παιδαγωγικό ρόλο του/της διευθυντή/ριας π.χ.
μορφές παιδαγωγικής παρέμβασης και εμψύχωσης, επιμόρφωση και κατάρτιση, σχολικό
κλίμα, αξιολόγηση κ.ά. Η αποτύπωση αυτή αποσκοπεί στη βελτίωση της υφιστάμενης
κατάστασης μέσα από τη λήψη ανατροφοδοτικών και βελτιωτικών μέτρων που θα προταθούν
στο πλαίσιο της παρούσας έρευνας. Στην έρευνα συμμετείχαν 1.000 εκπαιδευτικοί, όλων των
ειδικοτήτων, προερχόμενοι από σχολεία των δεκατριών περιφερειών της χώρας. Στο
θεωρητικό μέρος της μελέτης γίνεται αναφορά στην νομοθεσία που σχετίζεται με τα
παιδαγωγικά καθήκοντα και επιχειρείται η θεωρητική προσέγγιση των σημαντικότερων από
αυτά.. Το εμπειρικό μέρος περιλαμβάνει την μεθοδολογία της έρευνας, τα ερευνητικά
ευρήματα, τις συμπερασματικές διαπιστώσεις και τις προτάσεις. Όπως διαπιστώνεται από τα
ευρήματα της έρευνας οι διευθυντές/ριες παραμελούν τα παιδαγωγικά τους καθήκοντα κυρίως
λόγω αυξημένων διοικητικών υποχρεώσεων. Μια σειρά από προτάσεις καταγράφονται στην
