The purpose of this thesis was to investigate the perceptions of preschool teachers towards e-books and the level of their general knowledge about these types of technological tools in the educational process. In addition, the paper aims to research the degree of integration and the use of e-books in the educational process, particularly in preschool education.
The methodology was based on empirical research using a structured questionnaire. The sample of the survey consisted of 130 kindergartens from different regions of Greece.
The results of the survey showed that the preschool teachers were not sufficiently informed of the e-books and they hardly use them for personal reasons and in the educational process as well. That is why the degree of the e-book’s integration in the pre-school educational process was highly low. However, the preschool teachers have positive perceptions for using the e-book in pre-school education.
Preschool teachers identified as the most important factors in using e-books in the educational process: a) the lack of technological equipment, b) the lack of funding, c) the inadequate teacher training in digital media, and d) the insufficient level of teachers' knowledge. Additionally, their positive perceptions confirmed by supporting the e-books' advantages and by rejecting the disadvantages of e-books as well

| Abstract: | Σκοπός της παρούσας εργασίας αποτέλεσε η διερεύνηση των απόψεων των νηπιαγωγών για τα ηλεκτρονικά βιβλία και το επίπεδο των γενικών τους γνώσεων σχετικά με αυτά τα είδη τεχνολογικών εργαλείων στην εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία. Επιπλέον, η εργασία έχει ως στόχο να διερευνήσει το βαθμό ενσωμάτωσης και χρήσης των ηλεκτρονικών βιβλίων στην εκπαίδευση και ειδικότερα στην προσχολική αγωγή.
Η μεθοδολογία βασίστηκε στην πραγματοποίηση εμπειρικής έρευνας με την χρήση δομημένου ερωτηματολογίου. Το δείγμα της έρευνας αποτέλεσαν 130 νηπιαγωγοί από διάφορες περιοχές της Ελλάδας.
Τα αποτελέσματα της έρευνας έδειξαν πως οι νηπιαγωγοί δεν ήταν αρκετά ενημερωμένοι σχετικά με τα ηλεκτρονικά βιβλία και τα χρησιμοποιούν ελάχιστα τόσο σε προσωπικό επίπεδο όσο και στην εκπαίδευση. Δηλαδή, ο βαθμός ενσωμάτωσης του ηλεκτρονικού βιβλίου στην εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία αποδείχτηκε ότι ήταν πολύ χαμηλός. Ωστόσο, οι νηπιαγωγοί έχουν θετική στάση και αντίληψη για την χρήση του ηλεκτρονικού βιβλίου στην προσχολική εκπαίδευση.
Οι νηπιαγωγοί αναγνώρισαν ως σημαντικότερους παράγοντες για την εισαγωγή του ηλεκτρονικού βιβλίου στην εκπαιδευτική διαδικασία: α) την έλλειψη τεχνολογικού εξοπλισμού, β) την έλλειψη κονδυλίων χρηματοδότησης, γ) την ελλιπή επιμόρφωση των εκπαιδευτικών στα ψηφιακά μέσα και δ) το ανεπαρκές επίπεδο γνώσεων των εκπαιδευτικών. Η θετική τους στάση επιβεβαιώθηκε με την υποστήριξη των πλεονεκτημάτων από τη χρήση του ηλεκτρονικού βιβλίου στην μάθηση των παιδιών ενώ δεν έδειξαν να ταυτίζονται με τα μειονεκτήματα της χρήσης του e book που προέκυψαν από την βιβλιογραφική έρευνα.
