The field of Environmental Education is not a science by its own, it borrows principles
from other sciences such as physics, chemistry, philosophy, sociology etc. The
interdisciplinary is a condition of the Environmental Education. This is something
beneficial for the children so they will not experience the knowledge as something
unilateral and fragmented but as an interdependent unit. The Environmental Education
has an educational character that does not aim to study some phenomena but to train
people, has a holistic dimension, since it exams various problems (environmental, social
etc) as interactive members of one unit. The Environmental Education is a systematic and
long-term way to transmit knowledge and to obtain skills regarding to the environment.
The dynamic of Environmental Education has brought methodologies of the new
education. These new methodologies created an atmosphere of freedom at school and
promoted the spontaneity. When the development of initiatives is a possibility that is given
to the students, they can participate in the process more efficiently and consciously.
Furthermore, the ultimate aim of the new education is to create the development of a
critical intellect, so that the students will obtain the necessary skills to reform the social
space and to create a new world.
In this assignment are presented the methodologies of the environmental education. How
an environmental project is designed, what is required to complete it, which are the
purposes and which are the results after completing concrete methodologies. Through the
presentation of concrete environmental projects that were elaborated in the primary and
secondary education. Moreover, examples of elaborated environmental projects for
special education are given. Learning is considered to be a dynamic process that goes
beyond the four walls of the classroom and where the students are encouraged to interact
with social institutions outside the school.
Students are not passive hosts or auditors of the tuition. They act, they search, they
produce knowledge.
