Objectives: This senior thesis analyses the consumer’s views about the food labeling, especially in the Greek districts of Kavala, Lesvos and other cities of the country of Cyprus. Method: This study was based on a sample of 1200 consumers, which was obtained by random sampling. The sample consists of 718 women and 482 men over the age of 18 years. The research method used was that of questionnaire filling in the first half of 2019. In particular, 1,200 individuals were asked 33 closed-ended questions Afterwards, a thorough analysis of the sample followed along with the representation of the results via descriptive statistics techniques, as well as comparative analyzes of variables using the χ2 independence test. Statistical significance level was set at p = 0.05. Analyzes were performed using the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences statistical package (SPSS for Windows, release 25). Results: The main findings of the study are summarized as follows; Gender, educational background, health and physical condition appeared to influence to some extent the reading of the nutrition label, while country of residence and BMI did not significantly affect it. Conclusions: Modern consumers are aware of the mandatory labeling on pre packaged foods and are often interested in reading some of its information. Women though are more aware of reading labels because they usually take over the purchase and preparation of food. Younger people are also more up-to-date, possibly due to more frequent use of technology to their daily life. However, there is a large percentage of people who do not interpret food information correctly, as well as another percentage who still do not trust them. Οι αναλύσεις πραγματοποιήθηκαν με τη χρήση του στατιστικού πακέτου Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS for Windows, release 25).
