The aim of this work is to evaluate the effect of the economic crisis on the financial thesis of family businesses. After a brief introduction to the topic, a definition of the term “business” and of the various types of businesses, the concept of entrepreneurship is explored. The next unit focuses on the family business, its main advantages, disadvantages, problems and factors that lead to its success. The fourth chapter studies the economic crisis, by presenting its historical background, its causes and its impact on Greece. In the next section, detailed data on the operation of family businesses during the crisis are presented, while the problems and opportunities that arose are underlined. Last but not least, a separate unit briefly summarizes the conclusions, the limitations of the current study and the proposals for future research.
