The information seeking behavior of undergraduate students is a very important topic,
which constantly occupies researchers. However, the academic libraries are intended
to serve the students and teaching staff of institutions and support of teaching and
research work carried out in them. Is a place where the knowledge is produced,
managed and disseminated, contributing to unrestricted access to information and
education. An information literacy, which is a part of all this interest, reinforces the
comprehensive information seeking behavior of undergraduate students.
This research was conducted in as a part of the dissertation of Kyriaki Ikoniadou and
supervised by faculty member Emmanuel Garoufallou at the Department of Library
Science and Information Systems of Alexander Technological Educational Institute of
Thessaloniki (ATEI of Thessaloniki). The main aim of the research was to investigate
the information seeking behavior of undergraduate students of ATEI of Thessaloniki.
The survey was carried out in May and June of 2015.
During the research were identified some problems such as that the information
literacy of students was incomplete, the educational community and the library of
ATEI didn’t sufficiently inform students about this specific topic.
In conclusion, therefore, it was realized that the students face problem with their
searches, so that they cannot locate appreciable material. Moreover, in big percentage
the students do not have sufficient briefing from the library. Finally, big number of
students does not know any programs of information literacy.

| Abstract: | Η πληροφοριακή συμπεριφορά των φοιτητών αποτελεί ένα πολύ σημαντικό
θέμα, το οποίο απασχολεί συνεχώς τους ερευνητές. Ωστόσο, “οι ακαδημαϊκές
βιβλιοθήκες έχουν ως στόχο την εξυπηρέτηση των φοιτητών και του εκπαιδευτικού
προσωπικού του ιδρύματος και την υποστήριξη του διδακτικού και του ερευνητικού
έργου που διεξάγεται σ’ αυτά. Αποτελούν χώρο παραγωγής, διαχείρισης και διάχυσης
νέας γνώσης, συμβάλλοντας στην απρόσκοπτη πρόσβαση όλων στην πληροφόρηση
και στην εκπαίδευση1
”. Στα πλαίσια αυτά εντάσσεται και ο πληροφοριακός
γραμματισμός που ενισχύει την ολοκληρωμένη πληροφοριακή συμπεριφορά των
φοιτητών.
Η έρευνα αυτή διεξήχθη στο πλαίσιο της πτυχιακής εργασίας της Κυριακής
Ικονιάδου με επόπτη καθηγητή τον Εμμανουήλ Γαρουφάλλου του τμήματος
Βιβλιοθηκονομίας και Συστημάτων Πληροφόρησης του Αλεξάνδρειου Τεχνολογικού
Εκπαιδευτικού Ιδρύματος Θεσσαλονίκης (Α.Τ.Ε.Ι.Θ.). Ο βασικός σκοπός της έρευνας
ήταν να διερευνηθεί η πληροφοριακή συμπεριφορά των φοιτητών του Αλεξάνδρειου
Τ.Ε.Ι. Θεσσαλονίκης. Η έρευνα υλοποιήθηκε τον Μάιο και τον Ιούνιο του 2015 και
απευθυνόταν στους φοιτητές όλων των τμημάτων του Αλεξάνδρειου Τ.Ε.Ι
Θεσσαλονίκης.
Κατά τη διάρκεια της έρευνας εντοπίστηκαν κάποια προβλήματα, όπως το ότι η
πληροφοριακή παιδεία των φοιτητών ήταν ελλιπής, η εκπαιδευτική κοινότητα και η
βιβλιοθήκη του ΑΤΕΙΘ δεν ενημέρωνε επαρκώς τους φοιτητές σχετικά με το
συγκεκριμένο θέμα.
Η συλλογή των δεδομένων πραγματοποιήθηκε με την μορφή των ηλεκτρονικών
ερωτηματολογίων και αφορούσε αποκλειστικά τους φοιτητές του συγκεκριμένου
Ιδρύματος. Οι τομείς που ερευνήθηκαν σε σχέση με τους φοιτητές ήταν η χρήση και
η εμπειρία τους στους Η/Υ, η χρήση των υπηρεσιών της βιβλιοθήκης, η χρήση
μηχανών αναζήτησης, οι στρατηγικές αναζήτησης που ακολουθούν για την έρευνα
τους, αν γνωρίζουν προγράμματα πληροφοριακού γραμματισμού, ποια εργαλεία
σύνταξης βιβλιογραφικών παραπομπών χρησιμοποιούν.
Συμπερασματικά, λοιπόν, διαπιστώθηκε πως οι φοιτητές αντιμετωπίζουν
πρόβλημα σχετικά με τις αναζητήσεις τους με αποτέλεσμα να μην μπορούν να
εντοπίσουν αξιόλογο υλικό. Επιπλέον, σε μεγάλο ποσοστό οι φοιτητές δεν έχουν
επαρκή ενημέρωση από την βιβλιοθήκη. Τέλος, μεγάλος αριθμός ατόμων δεν
