Ατροφία Δέρματος (Bachelor thesis)

Σαββίδου, Καλλιόπη

Time can cause many changes on the human body, but on skin is where the first signs of aging and wrinkles appear. There are three main layers of skin. Epidermis is the top layer. Dermis is the second layer of skin and subcutaneous tissue is the third and final layer. Every layer also consists connective tissue with collagenous fibers, support fibers and elastic fibers that provide strength, extensibility, and elasticity. The progressive loss of epidermis and the skin atrophy is clinically significant because skin ageing is more vulnerable and is being treated more slow than younger skin. Skin atrophy is the thinning and transparency of skin that is caused by the reduction of the epidermis or/and the dermis. Skin atrophy manifests as thin and wrinkled surface with the loss of dermatoglyphic. There are many causes for skin atrophy, some of them are Chronic atrophic acrodermatitis, aging, Lichen sclerosis et atrophicus, syphilis, Hansen’s disease, Rothmund bloom Thomson syndrome etc. The cure for skin atrophy can be achieved with hyaluronic fragments. Hyaluronic fragments can reverse skin atrophy examining the affect of the local application of hyaluronic fragments.
