Reproduction is a process of vital importance for the longevity and profitability of every livestock enterprise, including sheep rearing. The breeding program applied to each farm plays a key role in both volume and the quality of reproductive efficiency. This study is based on the literature review of semen collection techniques from male sheep and goats involving the use of artificial vagina and electro-ejaculator. Also, the study approaches the issue of artificial insemination through the review of parameters related to the practical steps of the process, the advantages and disadvantages, the material and the equipment, etc.

| Abstract: | Η αναπαραγωγή είναι μια διαδικασία ζωτικής σημασίας για τη μακροζωία και την κερδοφορία κάθε κτηνοτροφικής επιχείρησης, συμπεριλαμβανομένης της εκτροφής προβάτων. Το πρόγραμμα αναπαραγωγής που εφαρμόζεται σε κάθε εκτροφή παίζει καθοριστικό ρόλο τόσο στον όγκο όσο και στην ποιότητα της αναπαραγωγικής απόδοσης. Αυτή η μελέτη βασίζεται στη βιβλιογραφική ανασκόπηση των τεχνικών συλλογής σπέρματος από αρσενικά πρόβατα και κατσίκες που περιλαμβάνουν τη χρήση τεχνητού κόλπου και ηλεκτροδιεγερτή. Επίσης, η μελέτη προσεγγίζει το ζήτημα της τεχνητής γονιμοποίησης μέσω της ανασκόπησης παραμέτρων που σχετίζονται με τα πρακτικά βήματα της διαδικασίας, τα πλεονεκτήματα και τα μειονεκτήματα, το υλικό και τον εξοπλισμό κ.λπ.
