Αθλητικές κακώσεις στο τένις (Bachelor thesis)

Μουστάκα, Ευαγγελία

Sport is a common cause of injuries. It is the most common reason for hospital injuries in adolescents and young adults and there is some evidence that injury rates at the athletes are rising. Athletic injuries can occur in participants from all forms of sports, from professional football to competitive sport to clubs, colleges, schools in a range of fitness programs usually undertaken for health and social reasons. In recent years, evidence has been gathered that the majority of these injuries should be avoided if sports interventions are successfully implemented. The challenge remains to prove the effectiveness of many sports injuries interventions in an appropriate environment and to better understand drivers and obstacles in efforts to implement the prevention of sports injuries. Tennis is a sport in which many injuries have been reported at all athletic levels (beginners, professional, elite). The purpose of this review study is to critically review the recent literature on tennis injury epidemiology at all levels of the game, to report the pathophysiology of these injuries and to discuss recent findings focusing on the treatment of these athletic injuries.
