Στάσεις και απόψεις γονέων σχετικά με την παρεχόμενη νοσηλευτική φροντίδα παιδιών με Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη τύπου 1 (Bachelor thesis)

Diabetes mellitus is a disease accompanied by various complications. For effective management and treatment of the disease requires regular nursing care and patient education. Parents of children with type 1 diabetes every day come up against complications of the disease and they have, in collaboration with health professionals, to deal with the specific arising problems. The present work evaluates the views of parents of children with type 1 diabetes mellitus on the quality of nursing care provided.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the views and attitudes of parents regarding the quality of care provided to children with type 1 diabetes.
Material-Methods: A time study was carried out. The study population consisted of parents of children who visit the Diabetic Clinic of the 3rd Pediatric Clinic of Hippocrates Hospital of Thessaloniki. The sample was drawn using the convenience method. The study tool was a structured questionnaire by Ball et al. (1988), in his Greek edition (Matziou, 2006). The questionnaire included questions about parents' views and attitudes about the care provided by nurses to children, as well as demographics. Data were analyzed using SPSS Statistics v25.
Results: 89.7% of parents believe that the nursing staff provided them with information or guidance on diabetes mellitus. 84.5% of the sample stated that children were informed prior to any screening or hospitalization procedures. The majority of parents believe that they supported their child very much or too much during the painful procedures at 41.4% and 40.4% respectively. Furthermore, the answers provided by the participants seem to trust “very” at 42.9% and “too much” at 32.6% by the nursing staff. A percentage of 60.6% also believes that the hospital staff who had taken care of their children was not indifferent "at all" about their concerns.
Conclusions: Parents seemed particularly satisfied with the overall nursing care provided. The majority of participants stated that they had a very good cooperation with the nursing staff and a great deal of encouragement from them to actively participate in the care of their child.

| Abstract: | Ο Σακχαρώδης Διαβήτης αποτελεί μία νόσο, η οποία συνοδεύεται από πληθώρα επιπλοκών. Για την αποτελεσματική διαχείριση και αντιμετώπιση της νόσου απαιτείται τακτική νοσηλευτική φροντίδα, αλλά και εκπαίδευση των ασθενών. Οι γονείς των παιδιών με Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη τύπου 1 έρχονται καθημερινά αντιμέτωποι με τις επιπλοκές της νόσου και καλούνται ν' αντιμετωπίσουν σε συνεργασία με τους επαγγελματίες υγείας, τα εκάστοτε προβλήματα που προκύπτουν. Στην παρούσα εργασία εκτιμώνται οι απόψεις των γονέων παιδιών με Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη τύπου 1 ως προς την ποιότητα της παρεχόμενης νοσηλευτικής φροντίδας.
Σκοπός: Σκοπός της παρούσας μελέτης είναι η διερεύνηση των απόψεων και των στάσεων των γονέων σχετικά με την ποιότητα της παρεχόμενης φροντίδας σε παιδιά με Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη τύπου 1.
Υλικό-Μέθοδοι: Πραγματοποιήθηκε μελέτη χρονικής στιγμής. Τον πληθυσμό της μελέτης αποτέλεσαν γονείς παιδιών που επισκέπτονται το διαβητολογικό ιατρείο της Γ’ Παιδιατρικής κλινικής του Ιπποκράτειου Νοσοκομείου Θεσσαλονίκης. Το δείγμα αντλήθηκε με τη μέθοδο της ευκολίας. Το εργαλείο της μελέτης αποτέλεσε δομημένο ερωτηματολόγιο των Balletal. (1988), στην ελληνική του έκδοση (Μάτζιου, 2006). Το ερωτηματολόγιο περιλαμβάνει ερωτήσεις που αφορούν τις απόψεις και τις στάσεις των γονέων για τη φροντίδα που παρέχεται από τους νοσηλευτές στα παιδιά, καθώς επίσης και δημογραφικά στοιχεία. Η ανάλυση των δεδομένων πραγματοποιήθηκε με τη βοήθεια του στατιστικού πακέτου SPSS Statistics v25.
Αποτελέσματα:Το 89,7% των γονέων θεωρεί ότι το νοσηλευτικό προσωπικό τους παρείχε πληροφορίες ή οδηγίες σχετικά με το Σακχαρώδη Διαβήτη. Το 84,5% του δείγματος δήλωσε πως τα παιδιά ενημερωνόταν πριν από κάθε διαδικασία εξέτασης ή νοσηλείας.Ηπλειοψηφία των γονέων πιστεύει ότι υποστήριξε πολύ ή πάρα πολύ το παιδί του κατά τις επώδυνες διαδικασίες σε ποσοστό 41,4% και 40,4% αντίστοιχα.Ακόμη, από τις απαντήσεις που έδωσαν οι συμμετέχοντες φαίνεται ότι εμπιστεύονται «πολύ» σε ποσοστό 42,9% και «πάρα πολύ»σε ποσοστό 32,6% το νοσηλευτικό προσωπικό. Επίσης, σύμφωνα με το 60,6% θεωρεί ότι το προσωπικό του Νοσοκομείου που είχε αναλάβει τη φροντίδα των παιδιών τους δεν αδιαφόρησε «καθόλου» στις ανησυχίες τους.
Συμπεράσματα: Οι γονείς φάνηκαν ιδιαίτερα ικανοποιημένοι με τη συνολική παρεχόμενη νοσηλευτική φροντίδα. Η πλειοψηφία των συμμετεχόντων δήλωσε ότι υπήρξε πολύ καλή συνεργασία με το νοσηλευτικό προσωπικό και μεγάλη παρότρυνση από αυτόγια την ενεργή συμμετοχή στη φροντίδα του παιδιού τους.
