This diploma thesis deals with the contribution of the Thessaloniki Municipal Police in shaping the final experience of city visitors. The meaning of experience has been the subject of many scientific studies for many years. The term 'tourist experience' appeared in the 1960s. In recent years there is a high interest and the importance which has given to the term by the commercial sector and especially the tourist has intensified. There is a strong diversity in the interpretation of the tourist experience which has very subjective elements and is influenced by many factors, including the time, place and social group that each belongs to. There are a number of elements and factors that influence it in shaping the final experience of a traveler. The main research objective of this work is to investigate the contribution of the Municipal Police of Thessaloniki in the shaping of the final tourist experience in the city. The choice of the particular subject of the thesis came after the researcher's desire to contribute the Municipal Police of Thessaloniki to the improvement of the tourist experienced of city visitors. The originality of the specific subject lies in the fact that it hasn’t occurred such research in the past. This is evidenced by the extensive research which has been done for the purposes of this work. The dissertation begins with a bibliographic review of the concepts of dissertation in order to give a complete view. These are the concepts of tourism, experience and the pull and push factors. Moreover, there is a detailed description of the Municipal Police of Thessaloniki and the tourist image of the city. The second part outlines the research methodology that used to carry out this thesis by presenting the questionnaire as the research tool which used. Furthermore, it is presented the results of the field research that carried out. The dissertation ends with the presentation of conclusions which answer the queried research questions. At the same time they are outlined some suggestions for the implementation of the main purpose of the study. All of these aim at providing new data to people who are involved with the field of tourism and exploiting them during the shaping of future strategic planning for tourism. This study was based on a primary research with questionnaire. It also relied on secondary research with a review of previous scientific articles, studies, books and other bibliographic sources on these research topics. 6 Through this process, they were emerged the following research questions:  What is the meaning of the tourist experience?  What are the pull and push factors of shape the experience?  How are judged the push and pull factors, for which the Municipal Police is responsible, in shaping the final tourist experience? The purpose of the investigation is to propose a possible reorganization or change of priorities and methods of operation of the Municipal Police. Depending on the results, the proposal will be in the direction of efforts to improve the tourist experience.
