The selection of school unit executives (in particular of the school principals), has been a matter of concern for the Ministry of Education as well as for the lawmakers since a long time ago. In reality, the selection process has undergone a number of alterations and due to them there is not a firm selection framework. Actually, the most recent-and currently in effect- law regulating the principals’ selection process is the Law 4547/2018. The main purpose of the thesis is to analyse the social representations of teachers concerning the abovementioned law for the selection of school principals. Certainly, for this reason some other subjects are also examined in the thesis. These subjects elaborate the proper theoretical background for the analysis of the questionnaire which occupies an essential part of the research. The various criteria, which the legislation throughout the years establish, occupy a broad scope of qualifications and skills and therefore a comparative deliberation of them is needed. Then, the social representations consisted of a set of information, beliefs, estimations and attitudes about a given subject comprise a theoretical tool assisting the elaboration of the questionnaire results. The structure and the content of the latter are mainly based on the provisions of the Law 4547/2018. The results of the questionnaire concentrate an ineffectual positive opinion about the new system of selection of school principals, however their more detailed reporting on the respective chapter of the thesis, through a multitude of variables, reveals explicitly the attitudes and views of the participants in the research.
