The present study deals with the profile of caregivers of dementia patients using the services of the Thessaloniki Psychiatric Hospital. It attempts to detect and record the type of burden they are suffering from, as well as their views on a number of issues related to the care of dementia patients.
Terms such as "care", "care burden" and "caregiver" are first examined and analyzed. Then there is a brief reference to Alzheimer's disease and research that has been done from time to time to look at the care givers burden due to the care they provide. The study concludes by recording the suggestions made by caregivers to make their work easier ease the burden they are experiencing.

| Abstract: | Η παρούσα μελέτη ασχολείται με το προφίλ των φροντιστών ανοιακών ασθενών που κάνουν χρήση των υπηρεσιών του Ψυχιατρικού Νοσοκομείου Θεσσαλονίκης.
Επιχειρεί να ανιχνεύσει και καταγράψει το είδος του φορτίου που υφίστανται, καθώς και τις απόψεις τους για μία σειρά από θέματα που αφορούν στη φροντίδα των ανοιακών ασθενών.
Αρχικά εξετάζονται και αναλύονται οι όροι όπως "Φροντίδα", "επιβάρυνση φροντίδας" και " φροντιστής". Στη συνέχεια γίνεται μια περιληπτική αναφορά στη νόσο του Αλτσχάιμερ και στις έρευνες που κατά καιρούς έχουν γίνει και εξετάζουν την επιβάρυνση που υφίστανται οι φροντιστές εξ αιτίας της φροντίδας που παρέχουν. Η μελέτη κλείνει με την καταγραφή των προτάσεων που έχουν κάνει οι φροντιστές προκειμένου να γίνει ευκολότερο το έργο τους, και που είναι σε θέση να απαλύνει το φορτίο που υφίστανται.
