Η προετοιμασία για την αντιμετώπιση κρίσεων και η διαχείρισή τους στα σχολεία της δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης (Bachelor thesis)

The present study investigates the views of Western Thessaloniki secondary education
teacherson the subject of management of crises at schools after the occurance of natural
disasters. The main objectives are to investigate the teachers’ opinions aboutwhether schools
are safe for pupils and teachers, the level of training of the participants, the degree of
readiness of the schools and the prospects for a return to the pre-crisis state. As the question
is not "Whether will a natural disaster occur" but "When will a natural disaster occur" (Brock
2013) it is imperative to investigate the level of preparedness of school units for proper crisis
management and recovery as well as the degree of teacher training. For this purpose, a survey
was carried out involving 135 teachers serving in secondary schools in Western Thessaloniki.
The tool used is a questionnaire adapted from other researcherssimilar questionnaires and
therefore valid. The results of the survey seem to indicate that the state must undertake a
concerted effort to implement teacher training programs and improve infrastructure and
processes that will minimize the unpleasant effects of the crisis. It is necessary to set up a
system that will provide teachers withcomprehensive education on crisis management,
promote student awareness of self-protection and disaster-relative information, and staff
school units with personnel specialized in psychological support.

| Abstract: | Η παρούσα μελέτη ερευνά τις απόψεις εκπαιδευτικών της δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης της
Δυτικής Θεσσαλονίκης σχετικά με τη διαχείριση κρίσεων στα σχολεία που προξενούνται από
φυσικές καταστροφές. Βασικοί στόχοι είναι να εντοπίσει αν κατά τη γνώμη των
εκπαιδευτικών τα σχολεία είναι ασφαλή για τους μαθητές και τους εκπαιδευτικούς, να
αναδείξει το επίπεδο επιμόρφωσης των συμμετεχόντων, το βαθμό ετοιμότητας των σχολείων
και τις προοπτικές για επαναφορά στην κατάσταση προ κρίσης. Δεδομένου ότι το ερώτημα
που τίθεται δεν είναι το “Αν θα συμβεί κάποια φυσική καταστροφή” αλλά το “Πότε θα
συμβεί κάποια φυσική καταστροφή” (Brock 2013) καθίσταται επιτακτική η ανάγκη να
διερευνηθεί το επίπεδο ετοιμότητας των σχολικών μονάδων για την σωστή διαχείριση της
κρίσης και την ανάκαμψη μετά από αυτήν και ο βαθμός επιμόρφωσης των εκπαιδευτικών.
Για το σκοπό αυτό έγινε έρευνα στην οποία συμμετείχαν 135 εκπαιδευτικοί που
υπηρετούσαν σε σχολεία δευτεροβάθμιας εκπαίδευσης της Δυτικής Θεσσαλονίκης ενώ το
εργαλείο που χρησιμοποιήθηκε ήταν ερωτηματολόγιο που προέκυψε από προσαρμογή
ερωτηματολογίων άλλων ερευνητών με σκοπό την εγκυρότητα και την αξιοπιστία του. Τα
αποτελέσματα της έρευνας φαίνεται να οδηγούν στο συμπέρασμα πως απαιτείται εκ μέρους
της πολιτείας συντονισμένη προσπάθεια για υλοποίηση προγραμμάτων επιμόρφωσης των
εκπαιδευτικών και βελτίωσης των υποδομών και των διαδικασιών που θα ελαχιστοποιήσουν
τις δυσάρεστες επιπτώσεις της κρίσης. Κρίνεται απαραίτητο να οργανωθεί ένα σύστημα που
θα προσφέρει ολοκληρωμένη εκπαίδευση σε εκπαιδευτικούς σε θέματα διαχείρισης κρίσεων,
θα προωθήσει την ευαισθητοποίηση των μαθητών σε θέματα αυτοπροστασίας και
ενημέρωσης και θα στελεχώσει τις σχολικές μονάδες με προσωπικό εξειδικευμένο στην
παροχή ψυχολογικής υποστήριξης.
