| Abstract: | Οι δημόσιες και οι δημοτικές βιβλιοθήκες συμβάλλουν στη δια βίου μάθηση, στην πρόσβαση της πληροφορίας και της γνώσης η οποία πρέπει να αξιοποιείται από όλους τους ανθρώπους. Οι βιβλιοθήκες έχουν σημαντικό ρόλο στη διάδοση των γνώσεων. Είναι απαραίτητο να είναι οργανωμένη και να ανταποκρίνεται στην εποχή που ζούμε με τις νέες τεχνολογίες, έτσι ώστε να ανταποκρίνεται στις ανάγκες των χρηστών. Με τον τρόπο αυτό συμβάλλει στην πνευματική άνοδο της τοπικής κοινωνίας. Αρχικά, η έρευνα πραγματοποιείται για να συλλεχθούν πληροφορίες σχετικά με τις υπηρεσίες της βιβλιοθήκης, τη συλλογή την οποία διαθέτει, το προσωπικό και λόγους χρήσης της
βιβλιοθήκης. Στην έρευνα καταγράφονται οι απόψεις των χρηστών έτσι ώστε να εξαχθούν αποτελέσματα τα οποία θα οδηγήσουν σε συμπεράσματα. Τα συμπεράσματα μπορεί να δώσουν έναυσμα στον βιβλιοθηκονόμο για να αναπτύξει μια συγκεκριμένη υπηρεσία της βιβλιοθήκης, με βάση τα αποτελέσματα από την έρευνα.
