This postgraduate thesis provides an overview of research in the field of adoption policies. The history of child adoption laws and practices in Europe is defined and the issues of domestic and international adoption are addressed in the light of social policy and the welfare state. Also, the study focuses on adoption in Greece and mentions the procedures required for its settlement in Greece. In conclusion, the current data on adoption - adoption in the context of social policy and social welfare in the social services of Greece were clarified.

| Abstract: | Η παρούσα διπλωματική εργασία παρέχει μια ανασκόπηση στον τομέα των πολιτικών της υιοθεσίας υπό το πρίσμα της κοινωνικής πολιτικής και του κράτους πρόνοιας. Προσδιορίζονται η ιστορία του νόμου υιοθεσίας παιδιών και των πρακτικών στην Ευρώπη και αναφέρονται τα ζητήματα των εγχώριων και διεθνών υιοθεσιών. Επίσης, η εργασία εστιάζει στην υιοθεσία στην Ελλάδα και αναφέρονται οι διαδικασίες που απαιτούνται για τη διευθέτηση της στην Ελλάδα. Τελειώνοντας, έγινε αποσαφήνιση των σύγχρονων δεδομένων γύρω από την υιοθεσία - αναδοχή στο πλαίσιο της κοινωνικής πολιτικής και της κοινωνικής πρόνοιας στις κοινωνικές υπηρεσίες της Ελλάδας.
