The role of information systems in accounting in Greece (Bachelor thesis)

In this present thesis, the subject of study is the importance of information systems in computerized accounting in Greece. The purpose of this paper is to make understood their role and the reasons why they are necessary in the science of accounting nowadays. This thesis consists of three chapters. The first chapter includes general information regarding the evolution of computerized accounting, the purpose, philosophy and the positive changes it brought compared to manual accounting in Greece. We live in the age of speed information and instant decision making. This has been achieved through the so-called Information Systems. Therefore, in the second chapter makes clear the meaning of information systems in general context. Specifically, it consists of information regarding the characteristics, components, types that exist. In addition, the three main categories are listed, which are divided according to the business sector that needs to be used. There are also examples of companies which create these in Greece. The third chapter presents the necessity and the role of information systems, especially in the field of accounting in Greece. At the same time, however, their impact on businesses and the help they offer to fulfill the vision is mentioned.
