Αιθέρια έλαια και η επίδραση τους στο ανθρώπινο σώμα (Bachelor thesis)

Μιχαηλίδου, Βασιλική/ Σταμάταϊ, Τέφτα

Essential oils, their extraction, their various uses and their effects are the main references of this research. Essential oils began to appear from antiquity, slowly showing their properties. To this day, more and more essential oils are being discovered, as they are directly related to plants and finding them. The production of essential oils is done in various ways such as distillation, extrusion, extraction by ultrasound etc. Their uses are many either in aesthetics, where it is called aromatherapy, or in people's lives in general. The essential oils enter the body through the sense of smell, the skin and more rarely through ingestion. The positive effects they offer are many toning, stimulating, relaxing, even healing the human body. On the other hand, emphasis is placed on the negative effects of essential oils that can sometimes have unpleasant consequences. These natural substances do not only belong to the traditional alternative therapies but can also be used in modern aesthetics, cosmetology, medicine and pharmaceutical science.
