Η αποτελεσματικότητα της χρήσης της εικονικής πραγματικότητας στη φυσικοθεραπεία (Bachelor thesis)

The present study attempts a comprehensive review of contemporary bibliography and articles on the effects of using virtual reality in physiotherapy in a variety of diseases and disorders, such
as cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, stroke, chronic phantom pain, etc. Virtual reality is a modern method, capable of being used by many professionals in many disciplines, as it is a pleasant treatment that allows patients to interact with each other working with a virtual environment, while performing a specific set of exercises, motivating them to do more repetitions of greater intensity. Among other things discussed were the types of virtual reality, the advantages and
disadvantages, as well as the mechanism of its operation. In conclusion, it is a promising ntervention, which, however, requires more extensive research in multiple environments.

| Abstract: | Στην παρούσα μελέτη επιχειρείται μία ολοκληρωμένη ανασκόπηση της σύγχρονης βιβλιογραφίας και αρθρογραφίας αναφορικά με τα αποτελέσματα της χρήσης της εικονικής πραγματικότητας στη φυσικοθεραπεία σε μια πληθώρα παθήσεων και διαταραχών, όπως την
εγκεφαλική παράλυση, το σύνδρομο Down, το εγκεφαλικό επεισόδιο, το χρόνιο πόνο μέλους φάντασμα κτλ. Η εικονική πραγματικότητα αποτελεί μία σύγχρονη μέθοδο, ικανή να χρησιμοποιηθεί από πολλούς επαγγελματίες, πολλών κλάδων, καθώς αποτελεί μία ευχάριστη
θεραπεία που επιτρέπει στους ασθενείς να αλληλοεπιδρούν με ένα εικονικό περιβάλλον, ενώ εκτελούν μια συγκεκριμένη σειρά ασκήσεων, παρακινώντας τους να κάνουν περισσότερες επαναλήψεις μεγαλύτερης έντασης. Μεταξύ άλλων συζητήθηκαν τα είδη της εικονικής πραγματικότητας, τα πλεονεκτήματα, αλλά και μειονεκτήματά της, καθώς και ο μηχανισμός της λειτουργίας της. Συμπερασματικά, είναι μία ελπιδοφόρα παρέμβαση, η οποία, όμως, χρειάζεται εκτενέστερη έρευνα σε πολλαπλά περιβάλλοντα.
