There is no doubt that the emergence and spread of COVID-19 worldwide has exponentially increased the pressure on healthcare professionals on many levels. The medical staff, especially those employed in positions of responsibility in coronavirus reference hospitals, are in charge of managing an unprecedented health crisis. These personnel are in charge of increased needs for care and patient care, the application of appropriate clinically proven treatment methods for the treatment of the virus, concern for the protection of their own health and that of their own persons, working in long hours, etc. All of these conditions are a challenge for the mental resilience of health care workers who are possessed by intense stress, fatigue, increased anxiety about the immediate future and very often experiencing feelings of burnout. As their emotional shifts are intense, in times of health crisis, nursing staff are called upon to manage their particularly increased responsibilities in a context of impaired mental resilience. Taking care of the mental health of medical staff in times of crisis, such as the COVID-19 pandemic, is now a priority for health systems and policymakers. In the context of this study, through a systematic literature review, the factors related to mental resilience and burnout of health professionals as well as how the COVID-19 pandemic has affected mental resilience and burnout will be examined. health professionals. The purpose of this literature review is to present through the available research data the factors that affect the mental resilience and burnout of health professionals. The studies reported found that the health personnel in the period of COVID-19 face a significant burden compared to the period before COVID-19 in relation to their burnout and, respectively, of their mental resilience.
