Introduction: Health literacy is a cornerstone of improving the health of the population. However nowadays there is a limited level of development of the level of health literacy. Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the level of health literacy among the residents of Delta Municipality. Method: This is a descriptive study. The sample consisted of residents of the municipality of Delta. The European Health Literacy Survey Questionnaire - HLS-EU-16 was used, with a reliability index for the entire Cronbach's questionnaire alpha = 0.872 (item23), while for the 16 questions of the HLS-EU-16 questionnaire Cronbach's alpha = 0.951 (item16). The study was conducted during the period from March 1 to March 31. Results: From the analysis of the questionnaires (N = 162), it appears that the majority of our sample consists of women with a percentage of 67.9% (N = 110), the predominant age group concerns residents over 60 years with a percentage of 29.6% (N = 48). The mean value of the mean value of the literacy level was calculated to be 12.04 with a standard deviation of ± 2. The majority of the inhabitants 64.8% (N = 105) show adequate health literacy (13 points and above), nevertheless two out of ten inhabitants record insufficient health literacy (0-8 points), while limited health literacy is recorded from 13.0 % of respondents. Conclusion: The level of health literacy was limited, while insufficient health literacy was observed for two out of ten residents. Understanding and applying information as dimensions of health literacy has proven to be easier for residents, in contrast to the dimension of access to information
