(Ανά)σχεδιασμός τοπίων μνήμης (Master thesis)

Κωνσταντινίδης, Θεόδωρος

This thesis investigates the concept of memoryscapes and the way those contribute to reinforcing the collective memory and identity. To begin with, the triptych space-place-landscape and the relationship of the latter with memory are studied. Furthermore, a collection of contemporary case studies of memoryscapes is taking place, as well as, a memoryscape design proposal for the Association of Smyrneans of Asia Minor of Eleftherio Kordelio «Agia Fotini» in the city of Thessaloniki, thus creating the 1st nationwide open-air museum of Smyrni. Moreover, a detailed outline of how the design came to an end, starting from the design inspiration, following the design synthesis, and ending with the final design proposal based on functional, aesthetical and ecological criteria. It is about a participatory design proposal with the user having an active role in co-designing and co-deciding, applying participation, collaboration and esprit de corps processes for the outdoor landscape transformation.
