The economic and social impacts in the life of a city by the installation at this tertiary institution

Abstract

Στο παρόν άρθρο παρουσιάζεται η διεξαγωγή και τα συμπεράσματα κοινωνικής διερευνητικής μελέτης, η οποία αφορά στις οικονομικές και κοινωνικές επ δράσεις στη ζωή μιας επαρχιακής πόλης από την εγκατάσταση σε αυτήν ριτοβάθμιου Εκπαιδευτικού Ιδρ ματος. Τα αρμόδια για το σχεδια σμό και προγραμματισμό του ιδρύματος όργανα έχουν ανάγκη πολύπλευρης και σε βάθος πληροφό ρησης ως προς τις απόψεις και στάσεις των κατο κων της εν λόγω πόλης. Προς εκπλήρωση του σκο­ πού αυτού διεξήχθη δημοσκόπηση. Από τη στατιστική ανάλυση των δεδομένων της έρευνας διαπι­ στώθηκε μέγιστος βαθμός γνώσης και πολύ θετική στάση των κατοίκων απέναντι στη συγκεκριμένη επερχόμενη έλευση φοιτητικού πληθυσμού, αν και αυτοί χαρακτ ρίζονται γενικότερα από έσου επιπέδου «αποδοχή των άλλων». Η υποδομή της πόλης κρίθηκε ικανοποιητική με εξαίρεση την πλευ­ ρά της υποδομής θεαμάτων. Οι κάτοικοι προσδοκούν θετικές οικονομικές επιδράσε ς από την έλευ­ ση των φοιτητών στην πόλη τους, τόσο ευρύτερες, όσο και επί μέρους, άμεσες καθώς και μεσοπρόθε­ σμα αναπτυξιακές, συνολικά δε, δεν αναμένουν δημιουργία ιδιαίτερων κοινωνικο-ηθικών προβλη­ μάτων. Δε διαπιστώθηκε ιδιαίτερο, προσωπικό ενδιαφέρον για επιχειρηματική δραστηριοποίηση των κατοίκων ε ερέθισμα και κίνητρο την προσέλευση και διαβίωση των φοιτητών στην πόλη , με εξαίρεση τους κατόχους χαμηλών εισοδημάτων που θα ήθελαν να προβούν στην ενοικίαση δωματίων στους φοιτητές.

In this paper a social research stυ y about the economic and social impacts of the establishment and function of a Higher Educational Institute upon the social life of a town is presented. The purpose of the study was to provide to the administration of the Institute wide and ίη depth information as to the attitudes of the citizens with regard to the futυre arrival of tυdents in their town. Α survey was conducted to accomplish this purpose. The statistical analysis indicated that there exists a maximum level of knowledge and certain very positive attitudes of the citizens to1vards the stυdent ' future arrival, although the citizens are generally characterised of a moderate level ίη «acceptance of others». The substructure of the town was judged by the citizens to be satisfactory enough ίη order to 1velcome the students' population, with the exception of the substructure that concems the cultural events. The citizens anticipate positive economic impact either general or specific, as well as either short-term or long-term impact, contributing to the town economic development. !η overall they do not expect that important socio-ethical problems might occur. Νο special interest, concerning the citizens' intention to engage into business activities motivated by the students' future arrival, was reported, with the exception of the intention of citizens, who hold lower incomes, to let rooms.management is pointed out. In a following article viable mechanisms of defeating this phenomenon are introduced that cover the organizational and managerial spectrum of a business.
