Καραμπόσικου, Μαρία
This thesis refers to one of the most important and often gynecological problems, the ectopic
pregnancy. This is a condition in which the implantation of the fertilize egg is done outside the
uterus in areas such as the cervix, the ovary, the abdomen and the fallopian tubes. The symptoms
of ectopic pregnancy are characterized by vaginal bleeding and abdominal pain. As for its
treatment, it is mainly achieved by the pharmaceutical or surgical method. The ectopic pregnancy is a pathological condition in which the pregnancy can’t continue and if it does, in about 25% of cases – mainly the abdominal, the prognosis isn’t good for both the mother and the fetus. Consequently, the aim and the role of the midwife is to inform and educate the women about the symptoms of ectopic pregnancy with the aim of reducing its appearance or even increasing its early diagnosis.
