Προοπτικές Συνδυασμού Θρησκευτικού Τουρισμού και Τουρισμού Ευεξίας στο Δήμο Καλαμπάκας (Master thesis)

The purpose of this dissertation was to conduct an extensive analysis on the compatibility of wellness services and religious tourism in Meteora, Greece. For this purpose, a thorough analysis of relevant literature was carried out in order to identify common elements between wellness and religious tourism. Subsequently, the literature review resultsled to the formulation of a quantitative framework within which the perceptions and preferences of tourists and tourism professionals were identified and analysed. Descriptive statistics, percentages and frequencies were employed to summarise and present the statements of participants. Findings suggest that there is a high demand for wellness services from tourists, the demographic characteristics and preferences of which were also used for the extraction of meaningful conclusions regarding tendencies in the local market. In addition, entrepreneurs and public servants expressed a mild interest for investing in wellness services. At the same time, they assessed the introduction of wellness services in the local market as a positive outcome. In conclusion, the combination of wellness and religious tourism isjudged as compatible based on the findings of the present research. Directions for further research are provided
