Βιταμίνη D στον καρκίνο του μαστού (Bachelor thesis)

Στεφανίδης, Αναστάσιος

The global prevalence of vitamin D deficiency affects more than 1 billion people, with Greece showing a 50% deficiency in the general population that reaches 80% with age increase. It is a major health issue and has been associated with a variety of diseases such as diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, Parkinson's disease, Alzheimer's, osteoporosis, and cancer. Recently, a large number of epidemiological and preclinical studies have found an inverse association between 25-hydroxyvitamin D levels with the occurrence of breast cancer, the progression and the likelihood of recurrence of the disease, and a positive relationship with patient survival. Under these circumstances, investigating awareness and levels of vitamin D in women with breast cancer in the Greek territory is necessary
