This current thesis presents the descriptive and thematic cataloging of a part of the library material of the University of Macedonia. More specifically, the whole process of descriptive and thematic cataloging, including the procedures for classifying and cataloging the available material, is presented. In addition to the above, this work initially provides information in summary form regarding the Library of the University of Macedonia where it became the practical part of the dissertation with the available material for cataloging. Subscriptions of this available material have a peculiarity, which is to enrich the content in the library catalog so that the user is easier to access, since it provides more information than bibliographic data auch as covers, tables of contents etc. In addition, tables are indexed first by title, followed by each author and per subject, as well as an extensive presentation of how documents are cataloged using the automated KOHA system with examples. In conclusion, the main part of this work consists of the 260 complete bibliographic records registered in coded MARC21 format.
