Αριθμητικά πειράματα για τη ροή γύρω από βυθισμένο περιστρεφόμενο κύλινδρο (Bachelor thesis)

The present study involves numerical experiments in the flow around a rotating
cylinder. The computations have been performed in a computational domain that
resembles actual laboratory conditions, the two dimensional Navier Stokes equations
have been solved with Galerkin finite elements and results have been obtained for
Reynolds numbers 001 10 and 100. The distribution of pressure and shear stress has
been obtained for every computed case, so that the drag and lift exerted on the rotating
cylinder can be calculated. It has been shown that lift is the dominant force with
increasing Reynolds number which is compatible with potential theory
