VBAC: Κολπικός τοκετός μετά από καισαρική τομή (Bachelor thesis)

Aim of this diploma thesis is the study of vaginal birth after cesarean delivery (VBAC) and
the highlighting of its importance and the updated documented care, in order to provide it
through literature review. Increasing rates of caesarean section and the risks that are associated with them impelled the
scientific community to disseminate their prevention and containment strategies, when there
aren't medical contraindication to avoid. The vaginal birth after cesarean section is one of the
most basic strategies for this purpose offering significant health benefits for mother and for
newborn, but also for the health system.
After analyzing the indications, contraindications, risks, benefits, epidemiological data on the
risks and its success, are presented and documented the conditions and the factors that should
be ensured in order to provide this type of delivery. At the same time, is analyzed the care
plan before and during VBAC and the knowledge that health professionals should have
concerning the early signs of pathology and its successful management.
Finally, this diploma thesis focuses on in documented obstetric care that should be provided
for VBAC from the community to health structures, from prenatal to postnatal period with a
view to highlighting its contribution to the better mother and newborn health and quality
health care
