This diploma thesis presents the problem of sand deposition in the Fishing Harbor of New Epivates (East Thermaikos Gulf), the municipality of Thermaikos. The construction of the project was initially started with a cantilever vertically on the coast that served as a fishing shelter for fishing boats. Then a breakwater was built up and tangent to the end of the cantilever, in order to serve more vessels and protect against the waves of the belt behind the breakwater. The consequence of this project was the deposition of large quantities of sloping materials on both sides and along the cantilever, starting from the coastline, ending up constantly closer to the breakwater, creating in this way the salient phenomenon. If the materials occupy the cantilever all along its length, then the TOMBOLO phenomenon is formed. This phenomenon not only causes serious environmental issues but in the absence of protection measures perhaps it will cause irreversible impacts on the surrounding area. The diploma thesis is completed with the study of coastal stereotransfer and the presentation of various alternatives to address the problem of the coastal belt, which penetrate into the sea erea behind the breakwater.
