Taking into consideration the reasoning and conclusions of modern scientific research, we assume that there may be a bidirectional mutual relationship between the thoracic diaphragm, internal organs and various systems of the human organism.This study aimed to investigate the functionality of the thoracic diaphragm and its relationship, besides respiration, with other structures and functions of the human body.We searched the online database Medline, for articles published in recent years using the keywords “diaphragm”, development, anatomic connection, function, dysfunction, core stability, evaluation manual therapy, PNF, osteopathic. We also handsearched references lists of the included studies. The last search took place on 26.08.2018.
