Κάλφα, Μαρία

The present study examines the views of young women on the gender dimension in the administration of educational units in Secondary education and their wider perceptions of professional development. In the context of this thesis, is attempted a survey of the viewpoints of young women according to leadership and power issues in the context of Secondary Education Units. The thesis examines the views of women on issues of domestic and international literature such as gender roles, gender and labor market, the specificities of female employment and leadership models, and especially the criticism of these . The purpose of this research was to capture the views of women on how they perceive these concepts of leadership and professional development and also the reasons that a course is suppressed in view of other obligations were also investigated. Central is also the relationship of society and gender, which is reflected in the way in which the hierarchy relations are structured within and outside the labor market. Research highlights the way in which factors such as family and school influence and determine to a large extent the professional choices of the genders. Important is the maternity variable, which appears as an important parameter, changing the balance between personal and professional life. At the same time, the internal and external obstacles encountered by women in their professional development are examined, and how they affect negatively their self-esteem and their decisions. In conclusion, is investigated the reasons that women are generally under-represented in positions of authority and responsibility and how these factors can or may not be tackled to bridge the gap that has been built over time. Notable are the results that highlight important aspects of the choices of young women as regards their professional careers. A major problem that has arisen, which is a commonplace in interpreting the lack of ambition, is the distribution of home roles and the contribution of motherhood to the way women manage their decisions. In conclusion, the question of balancing personal and professional life, which women think about in terms of future time, is emerging as, while no one is married or has no children, it becomes obvious that she is worried about whether she can - and what sacrifices - to maintain a balance in her professional and personal life.
