Το Υαλουρονικό Οξύ στην Κοσμητολογία (Bachelor thesis)
Αψεμίδου, Σουμέλα
Over the last few decades, hyaluronic acid has played a leading role in the field of
aesthetics and medicine.
Hyaluronic keeps the skin tightened and youthful, providing moisture and volume to
the skin. Playing a key role in cell growth, is the basis of water retention in them. It
was used as an adjunct to the joints and then as a correction of facial faults.
Over time, either through the natural aging process or through exposure to
environmental factors such as pollutants and sunlight, the natural storehouse of
hyaluronic acid in the body is degraded and it’s total production and function is
therefore destroyed. As a result, water is not held back, the skin dehydrates and
takes the natural course of gravity.
The complex form of hyaluronic acid makes it flexible in its use. In the past 30
years, synthetic forms of hyaluronic acid have been developed and used
therapeutically in ophthalmology and rheumatology and then in cosmetology. More
recently, synthetic forms of hyaluronic acid are made for use in facial
enhancement. It is generally a safe, non-reactive material, not properly used has
multiple side effects. It could be called the elixir of youth by some, for tissues that
do not suffer from anything more serious than just their natural wear
