Η συμβολή του συλλόγου διδασκόντων στη διοίκηση της σχολικής μονάδας (Master thesis)

The present dissertation’s purpose is to research the teachers’ board’s
contribution to the management of the school unit and the administrative functions and to
research if the present administration of the school unit allows and even offers participation
opportunities in each case.
For the success of the above issues, a quantitative survey was accomplished through
the secondary school’s teachers in the country of Kozani (Junior High Schools, High Schools
and Technical High Schools). The statistic sample consists of 153 teachers. More specifically,
what was investigated was the teacher’s participation level in specific parts of the
management and also the extent to which they are willing to consider their participation in the
future. Moreover, another issue that was included in the research is the teacher’s intention to
occupy an administrative position in the future and the association between this intention and
the willingness to participate in the administrative functions of the school unit.
The methodological tool that was used for the collection of data is the questionnaire,
which consisted of 28 close –ended questions – sentences. The statistic processing of data
that were collected and the analysis of the results were accomplished with the use of the
Statistical Package of the Social Sciences SPSS 22.
The results, to which the research concluded, showed that the teachers board
participates in the administrative organization of their duties and at a lower level in the
planning. According to the teachers’ opinions it was found that there is a strong co-operation
among the members of the Teachers’ Board’s they develop climate full of trust and respect
during the meetings. In addition, what the research concluded to, is that there is support and
guidance from the director to the members of Teachers Association but this contrasts the other
result which is about the fact that the director of the school does not provide power
delegation. Therefore, always according to the analysis of the research’s answers democratic
decision - making processes are implemented, but at the same time the applied leadership
style is largely far from the authoritative style, which many teachers desire. A grate
correlation was observed between the actual and the desirable participation of the Teachers’
Association’s members with the willing to prospective position of responsibility and
meanwhile with the postgraduate studies
