Διατροφολογική αξιολόγηση σε υπερήλικους ασθενείς με κατακλίσεις 1ου και 2ου βαθμού που βρίσκονται σε κέντρα αποκατάστασης. (Bachelor thesis)

Import : Pressure ulcers in elderly people, may reduce the quantity of life, prolong the duration of hospitalization by increasing morbidity and mortality, as well as the cost of care. The main factor in this condition is the ongoing malnutrition, which in combination with the common diseases slows the healing of the ulcers and raises the general clinical picture of the patients. Purpose: To assess the state of nutrition of elderly patients in rehabilitation centers and how intimate malnutrition is linked to the deviations they present during hospitalization. Sample / Methodology: 34 patients (12 men, 22 women) with stroke, fractures and cancer. Due to the peculiarities of these conditions, patients were unable to self-handle and had to be sedated in order to achieve the best outcomes of their disease. The measurements were established at the Euromedica Arogi Rehabilitation Center from April to July 2016. Our patients evaluated the nutritional status of the NRS2002 nutrition tool, while taking the medical history, biochemical measurements and finally their anthropometric measurements. Results: After the statistical analysis of the data, patients were found to have a body weight of 57.6kg(SD 7,2) and a Body Mass Index of 20.9(SD1.8) kg / m2. The body weight varied from the weight before diagnosis and the weight 6 months ago according to the history taken.From the nutrition tool NRS2002 it appeared that the swings with the tool are not directly connected. However, based on biochemical and laboratory tests, there was a correlation between the sediments and the values of total albumins, albumin and polymorphonuclear. There was also a statistically significant correlation of the pressure ulcers with these data as the p-value was in serum albumin at 3rd count <0.01, in total albums in 3rd count <0.04 and finally in polymorphonuclear at 2nd measurement 0.05. Conclusions: The results of the study partly confirm that the risk of malnutrition in hospitalized patients with pressure ulcers and associated diseases remains high due to the non-direct treatment of threatened undernourishment.So, we conclude that dietary assessment is essential in these patients, and that standardized procedure is needed to ensure good nutrition.
